Are you fearful to try CBD oil or CBD products even though lately you've been hearing lots about the powerful healing potential it has? I too was fearful to try CBD oil when it was suggested to me to combat my intense anxiety. It took some research, asking around and trying it myself (starting with one drop under the tongue) to lay my fears to rest. I didn't want to feel altered in any way.....and as I educated myself more and more I learned the difference between CBD and THC. Both have amazing healing properties and both can be taken without the "stoned" or phychoactive effect on the body.
The cannabis plant naturally has many different cannabinoids present in each plant. The two most talked about are CBD and THC.
When CBD is ingested alone (often called an isolate) there is no phychoactive effects at all but most oils contain atleast a tiny percentage of THC in it. Mountain Man Medicinals does however offer an isolate that has been lab tested at 0% THC. An isolate is a great option for people who are sensitive to even small amounts of THC (it causes many people with anxiety disorders to become more anxious), for Pet Drops since pets shouldn't receive any THC and for those people who aren't comfortable with ingesting an oil that contains THC. I also find it better for increasing energy and weight loss.
A Full Spectrum CBD oil on the other hand usually contains all the cannabinoids. The benefit of this oil is that each cannabinoid has it's own healing properties and when taken orally its has a more well rounded effect. Now... here is the interesting part! It is possible to ingest THC without feeling altered in any way. There are 3 important factors that come into play.
1) How much THC is in the oil? There should be a percentage marked clearly on the bottle. Anything below 0.5% is considered a CBD only oil. Even though it is a small amount of THC some people feel some effects. We all have different tolerances to substances.
2) Has the oil ever been heated? THC needs to be heated in order to activate the phychoactive effects of the cannabinoid. When THC is raw (never heated) it is called THCA. The benefits are slightly different in THCA then in THC but they are both extremely therapeutic. Our Full Spectrum oil lies in this category. Our supplier uses a cold press method to extract the cannabinoids out of the cannabis plant therefore it contains raw CBDA and THCA. It's a beautifully well rounded oil with no phychoactive effects.
3) What is the ratio of CBD to THC in the oil? Interestingly CBD conteracts the effects of THC. Not just the "stoned" feeling but also the munchies, the paranoia and the sleepy or dopey feeling that THC in known for. If you have enough CBD in your body and then ingest, smoke or vape THC you may not feel any phychoactive effects at all. I find that the ratio is different with every person depending on how sensitive you are to THC and CBD. It is possible for someone to use medical cannabis to treat cancer or epilepsy and to never feel the phychoactive effects of the plant.
I hope that in educating more people about the benefits and how to use CBD in the way most comfortable and therapeutic way for them....that both the fear and the stigma of this powerful plant will fade away. Maybe more people will try it for themselves and experience the relief and healing that CBD can bring.
We sell CBD products at Mountain Man Medicinals that are geared for everyday people who do not want an altered state but want to feel better naturally.
